Privacy

Your data, with a little clarity.

Privacy note for the OpenTabs website and Chrome extension. Updated 26 October 2026.

This website

The website does not add advertising trackers or third-party analytics. The language is selected through the page URL and browser language; we do not need a tracking cookie for it. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes technical request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the service.

Your extension and AI provider

Tabs, settings, and Pro projects are kept in extension storage on your device. When you confirm AI analysis, the extension sends the selected tab information and your key to the endpoint you configured. If you enable page content extraction, the authorized extracted text can be included in that analysis. Your provider’s own privacy terms apply.

License and payments

Pro licensing uses an email sign-in code and a session. The license service stores the email, session hashes, and Stripe customer/subscription references. Stripe handles payment details. The email provider delivers sign-in codes. The license service does not receive your LLM key or project sync files. Public Pro billing has not launched on this website.

Optional Google Drive sync

With your authorization, Pro can sync workspaces, rules, taxonomies, preferences, and a small recent history to the appData folder in your Google Drive. Files use gzip compression. The sync does not include your LLM key, page HTML, or license token. Drive sync is not end-to-end encrypted; optional passphrase encryption is available for offline JSON backups.

Your controls

You can remove a remembered API key in settings, disconnect Google sync, export a backup, and delete local Pro items. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage; it does not necessarily delete provider-side data or cancel a subscription. Google and Stripe offer their own controls for app access, stored data, and subscriptions.
